This song is about that point in a breakup when you reflect with rose-colored lenses on how magical everything used to be and how gratifying it felt to feel devoted to another person. It can be tempting to try and go back to it, but ultimately better angels prevail and you realize that you have to stand on your own two and keep pursuing the new future rather than seeking out the past.
